Allen Levi challenged himself to write a full-length novel. It took a few years, but he accomplished the goal. He then put the book in a drawer and moved on to the next thing. 

 The story doesn’t end there. At the suggestion of friends, Allen self-published the book, and Theo of Golden made its debut in 2023. Word began to spread about this story of generosity, faith, and connection. By early 2026, it had reached #1 on the New York Times bestseller list. The pet project Allen once put aside has resonated with countless people. And that’s what matters most to him. As his niece told The Washington Post, “If someone reads something that he writes, and it has an impact on them and in his mind pushes them closer to encountering … God, then to him that’s the win.”
