When Kendra first arrived at Joy House, she kept to herself.
Years of hardship, disappointment, and broken relationships had left her feeling isolated and unsure if things could ever change. She was struggling to see a future for herself—and even more difficult, she struggled to believe she was worth pursuing.
But the staff at Joy House saw something different. They saw a woman created in God’s image. A woman with gifts, potential, and a future worth fighting for.
As Kendra began to experience the support of a caring Christian community, things started to change. With encouragement from staff, she secured a job that gave her confidence and a renewed sense of purpose. Little by little, she began to come out of her shell, building relationships with the women around her and becoming an active part of the Joy House family.
Then came one of the most meaningful milestones of all. Kendra was able to regain visitation with her daughter.
What once seemed impossible became possible because someone chose to walk alongside her, believe in her, and provide the support she needed to rebuild her life.
